Founders

• Dr. Chengguo Xing is a Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Florida. He has dedicated 23 years of research on kava, including pharmacognosy, medical chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, analytical chemistry, and clinical translations, particularly for AB-Free Kava’s safety, its potential on cancer and holistic effects on resilience improvement due to cigarette use. His research has been supported by NCI, NCCIH, Florida Department of Health, Lung Cancer Research Funding and many other organizations.

• Dr. Pramod Upadhyaya is an emeritus Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center . He has dedicated 32 years of research to understanding the molecular basis for cigarette smoke-induced lung cancer, developing natural solutions for cancer prevention, and facilitating the clinical translation through the development of mechanism-based biomarkers.

• ​Dr. Junxuan Lu is the Bernard B. Brodie Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at the Penn State University College of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding the cause of cancers in solid tissues and developing natural interception agents, including Korean angelica root, AB-free kava as well as novel selenium compounds. He has led or sponsored multiple human clinical trials of herbal supplements in healthy subjects and cancer patients.

• Dr. Pablo Leitzman received his medical degree from University of Minnesota Medical School and subsequently completed an internal medicine residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. He currently practices as a Hospitalist with HealthPartners in St. Paul, Minnesota. He contributed to the discovery and development of AB-Free Kava and its preclinical evaluation against lung tumorigenesis.
